More detail on this person: Rites Pending for Gary Peil; Ex-Omahan Killed in Crash Funeral services are pending at Burbank, Cal., for Marine Capt. Gary E. Peil, 30, a former Omahan who was killed in an airplane crash near Holly Ridge, N.C. Also killed in the crash of the Bronco twin-engine turbo jet was 1st Lt. Thomas D. Wilson, 26, of Jacksonville, N.C., the aerial observer. Captain Peil was the pilot. The Marine Corps said the men, stationed at the Marine Air Station at New River, N.C., were on a routine observation training flight. An investigation was ordered. Captain Peil was a graduate of North High School and attended the University of Omaha. He entered the service in 1960. He received the Gold Star in 1965 for combat missions flown while serving on the carrier Oriskany in the South China Sea. Survivors include his wife Helen and daughter Andrea, 17 months, of Burbank.
