Phillips, Jr., age 74, of Auburn, died Sunday March 14, 2010, in Birmingham, Alabama. Funeral services will be at 2:00 P.M. Tuesday, March 16, 2010, at Jeffcoat-Trant Funeral Home with Dr. Nick Holler officiating. Interment will follow at Auburn Memorial Park Cemetery. Visitation is Tuesday from 1:00 to 2:00 P.M. at Jeffcoat-Trant Funeral Home. Mr. Phillips is survived by his children, Kelly M. Phillips of Birmingham, Clarissa (Danny) Keeney of Birmingham and Johnny Alfred (Paige) Phillips of Alpharetta, Ga.; grandchildren, Daniel Jackson Keeney and Patrick William Keeney and Seth Reeves Phillips and Cade Anderson Phillips; brother, Jerry (Jackie) Phillips of LaGrange; brothers and sisters-in law, Mary and Jimmy Roach and Clarissa and Bob Freemen. Mr. Phillips had been a resident of Auburn since 1972. He was a highly decorated Army Officer, retiring in 1972 as a Lt. Colonel following two tours of duty in Vietnam. He also worked as a stockbroker with Smith Barney for a number of years. Mr. Phillips received his BA degree from The University of Nebraska and his MBA from Auburn University. He was a member of Auburn United Methodist Church, Saugahatchee Country Club and Harper Valley PTA. The family suggests, in lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be directed to Wounded Warrior Project, 7020 AC Skinner Parkway, Suite 100, Jacksonville, Fl. 32256.
