More detail on this person: Terry H Powell TERRY POWELL Shawnee manager dies at 60 Daily Oklahoman, The (Oklahoma City, OK) - Tuesday, April 6, 2004 SHAWNEE _ Former City Manager Terry Powell died at his home Sunday of lung cancer. Powell, 60, opted for an early retirement in February after having been city manager in Shawnee since June 1991. "He is definitely going to be missed," Mayor Chris Harden said. "He was a loyal and true friend to the city of Shawnee and OSU." Powell, who received a bachelor of science degree from Oklahoma State University in 1966, was a highly decorated U.S. Marine Corps helicopter pilot, having flown more than 200 missions in South Vietnam. He also was a marathon runner and competitive bicyclist. Powell was city manager in Guymon before 1991. Memorial services are 10 a.m. Wednesday in the People's Building at the Heart of Oklahoma Expo Center. He will be buried in Arlington National Cemetery.
