More detail on this person: Fayetteville Observer, The (NC) - Friday, October 23, 1998 Retired Army Chief Warrant Officer 4 Linwood N. ''Jerry'' Packard, 67, of Murray Hill Road, Fayetteville, died Wednesday in his home. Mr. Packard retired from the Army after 29 years of service as a helicopter pilot. During his career, he was awarded two Distinguished Flying Crosses, two Bronze Stars and the Legion of Merit. Mr. Packard was the former owner of Packard & Sons Construction and Roofing. The funeral will be conducted at 2 p.m. Saturday in Jernigan-Warren Funeral Home chapel by Dr. Bruce Martin. Entombment will be in Cumberland Memorial Gardens Mausoleum. Mr. Packard is survived by his wife, Rose M. Packard of the home; three sons, Thomas A. Packard of Linden and Douglas L. Packard and Kenneth D. Packard, both of Fayetteville; three daughters, Barbara L. Kelly of Pinson, Ala., Terri L. Packard of Westwego, La., and Kathy A. Dunn of Saundertown, R.I.; a sister, Virginia Hutchins of Cumberland Center, Maine; and 12 grandchildren. The family will receive friends tonight from 7 to 9 at the funeral home.
