More detail on this person: Mr Robert Ellis Or Pete Poston, 66 OBITUARIES Post and Courier, The (Charleston, SC) - Tuesday, November 17, 1998 PAMPLICO - Robert Ellis "Pete" Poston, 66, a former teacher and headmaster, died Sunday in a Florence hospital. The funeral will be at 3:30 p.m. Wednesday in Union Baptist Church. Burial, directed by Morris Funeral Home of Hemingway, will be in the church cemetery. Mr. Poston was born in Florence County, a son of Luther J. Poston and Maude Turner Poston. He was a graduate of Clemson University. He was a retired Army lieutenant colonel and received the Meritorious Service Medal, the Distinguished Flying Cross, the Legion of Merit and the Purple Heart. He taught at Johnsonville High School and served as headmaster at Carolina Academy in Lake City. He was an active member and deacon of Union Baptist Church. Surviving are his wife, Shirley Calcutt Poston; a son, John R. Poston of Columbia; two daughters, Susan Allen of Piedmont and Pamela Langston of St. Pauls, N.C.; three brothers, Paul D. Poston of Lake City and John P. Poston and Byrnes L. Poston, both of Pamplico; four sisters, Sarah Lou Poston, Jessie Mae Poston, Doris P. Rhodes and Jenny Poston, all of Pamplico; and four grandchildren.
