PURVIS LAMAR PARKER State, The (Columbia, SC) - Wednesday, March 28, 2007 COLUMBIA -- Service for LTC Purvis Lamar Parker, U.S. Army (Ret.), 72, will be held at a later date in Arlington National Cemetery. Memorials may be made to "Make a Wish Foundation", 3550 N. Central Ave., Suite 300, Phoenix, AZ 85012-2127. Dunbar Funeral Home, Devine Street Chapel, is assisting the family. Mr. Parker died Saturday, March 24, 2007. Born in Phenix City, Ala., he was a son of the late J.D. and Minnie Lee Purvis Parker. An Army veteran of the Vietnam War, he served two tours of duty as a member of the 1st Cavalry Division as a helicopter pilot. Mr. Parker enjoyed his Shriner, Masons and Kiwanis activities. Surviving are his wife, Gisela Parker; daughter and son-in-law, Diana and Thomas Fix of Yorktown, Va.; sister and brother-in-law, Loretta and Bill Withem of Phenix City, Ala.; granddaughter, Diana Girtain and her husband, Richard, of Cedar City, Utah; grandson, TJ Fix of Brooklyn, N.Y.; and sister-in-law, Mildred Parker. He was predeceased by his brother, Leonard Parker.
