More detail on this person: Mr Marvin J Pratt, 71 Today's obituaries Salina Journal, The (KS) - Tuesday, November 3, 2009 SHEPHERDSTOWN, W.Va. -- Marvin J. Pratt, 71, of Shepherdstown, died Thursday, Oct. 29, 2009, at his residence, under the care of Hospice of the Panhandle. He was born June 22, 1938, in Russell, Kan., the son of Walter B. and Wilma O. (Bird) Pratt. Mr. Pratt retired as a full captain from the United States Naval Reserve. He received the Distinguished Flying Cross in January 1970 for action in January 1969. He was also a helicopter pilot during the Vietnam War and a test pilot for Beech Aircraft. He graduated from the University of Kansas with a degree in aerospace engineering and was also an architectural engineer. Mr. Pratt was president of his own consulting firm and was a guest lecturer at the University of Kansas Business School. He was a member of Trinity Episcopal Church, Shepherdstown. He was also a member of APICS. He is survived by his wife of 41 years, Donna L. (Roberts) Pratt, of the home; children, Sheri D. Pratt Senicki, of Roanoke, Va., Adrienne H. L. Pratt Mammen and husband Derius, of Salina, Kan., and Tabitha L. Clayborn, of Shawnee, Kan.; and five grandchildren. He was preceded in death by one grandchild; and one brother, Arthur D. Pratt. There will be no visitation. Memorial services will be at 11 a.m. Saturday, Nov. 7, at Trinity Episcopal Church, Shepherdstown, with Dr. G. T. Schramm officiating. Interment will be in Arlington National Cemetery at a later date. Memorials may be made to Hospice of the Panhandle, 122 Waverly Court, Martinsburg, WV 25403, or Shepherdstown Volunteer Fire Co., P.O. Box F, Shepherdstown, WV 25443. Melvin T. Strider Colonial Funeral Home, Charles Town, is handling arrangements.
