More detail on this person: Robert O'Dell Rose REST IN PEACE.. LTC US ARMY.. THANKS FOR YOUR SERVICE.. Robert O'Dell Rose, Lieutenant Colonel, Ret'd, USA, passed away May 13, 2009 at Scott & White Hospital in Temple, TX. He was born August 18, 1945 in El Paso to Hobert & Neva Fletcher Rose. He graduated from Ysleta High School and from UTEP. A proud Vietnam veteran, he served gallantly as a combat helicopter pilot and later as a primary helicopter instructor pilot. Among his military awards are the Distinguished Flying Cross, Meritorious Service Medal, Bronze Star, 37 Air Medals, and numerous other awards and citations. He remained active in the Army Reserve and completed a thirty-year service. He further supported the Army Reserve as a full time Military Technician, retiring as a Staff Supervisory Administrator and Facility Manager. He was truly the most wonderful, loving and devoted husband, father and grandfather and will be greatly missed. A fellow soldier and friend wrote "Bob set an example of honesty and integrity for many of us to aspire to". He was a member of the Vietnam Helicopter Pilots Assn, the Distinguished Flying Cross Society, the Army Aviation Assn of America, Reserve Officers Assn, NRA, and the American Legion. He truly enjoyed the outdoors as an avid fisherman and hunter. Survivors include his parents, his wife, Nancy Rose, El Paso; daughters, Marla (Ross) Hempstead, Winter Springs, FL, and Mindy (Allen) Pfannstiel, Dalhart, TX. He was the proud grandfather (Paw Paw) to Lauren Hempstead, Tallahassee, FL, Shelby Hempstead, Winter Springs, FL and Yeager, Pierce & Emery Pfannstiel of Dalhart, TX. Other survivors include brothers Donald (Anne) Rose, Belton, TX and Tom (Joan) Rose, Williamston, MI, and brother in-law Rick Glenn of Moran, TX in addition to other family members and friends. Graveside service and burial with full military honors were held on Friday, May 22, 2009 in the Central Texas State Veterans Cemetery, Killeen, TX.
