Ray Jr., 71, of Roland died Thursday, Oct. 5, 2006, in Van Buren. He was a retired major for the Army and Green Beret, a retired RN from St. Edward Mercy Medical Center, a member of the American Legion Post 339 of Roland, a 1954 graduate of Roland High School, a member of Good Sams Club and Zion Missionary Baptist Church of Roland, received the Purple Heart and Bronze Star in the Vietnam War, and an instructor and helicopter pilot. Funeral will be 10 a.m. today at Edwards Funeral Home Chapel with burial at U.S. National Cemetery with full military honors. He is survived by his wife, Dolores; five daughters, Cheryl Wise of Arkansas, Robin Mitchell and Sonya Hahn, both of Roland, Tammy Ray of Fort Smith and Terry Bentley of North Carolina; two sons, Randy Ray of Tennessee and Virgil Ray III of North Carolina; 13 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren. Memorials contributions may be made to the American Parkinson's Disease Association, 116 John St., New York, NY 10038.
