More detail on this person: Frank F. "Mac" Ramert Jr. Frank F. "Mac" Ramert Jr., 57, was born May 13, 1946, in Harlingen, TX, and passed away Saturday, November 15, 2003 in San Antonio, TX. He was a loving husband, father, brother and friend who will be dearly missed by all the lives he touched. Mr. Ramert exemplified the qualities of a true leader. He earned Eagle Scout at the age of 11, graduated from The University of Texas at Austin in 1969, then finished at the top of his U.S. Army flight school class of 1970 before serving in the Vietnam War as a Dust-off Pilot. He was medically retired from the Army as a Captain in 1975. Mr. Ramert went on to be a successful businessman in the San Antonio area. He owned several businesses, including Power Controls, where he served as president and CEO, and spearheaded commercial and residential real estate and development endeavors in Stone Oak and Boerne. In 1988, he was named SBA Businessman of the Year for the state of Texas. He was honored for his accomplishment at the White House, where President Ronald Reagan presented him the award in the Rose Garden. Despite his busy work schedule, Mr. Ramert still found the time to dedicate himself to his two sons and their many friends by coaching football, basketball and tee ball for 12 years. He and his wife, Jan, were founding members of the Northeast Education Foundation. They were proud members of the San Antonio Texas Exes and numerous other local charitable organizations and endeavors. He is survived by his loving wife of 35 years, Jan; sons, Jeff and wife Stephanie, and Jimmy and wife Erin; brother, Mark; father-in-law, George Wechsler and mother-in-law, Dorothy Wechsler; niece, Rebecca, and nephew, Michael. He was preceded in death by his father, Frank F. Ramert Sr., and his mother, Gerry Ramert. Visitation will begin on Tuesday, November 18, 2003 from 4:00 P.M. to 8:00 P.M. at Sunset Funeral Home. A Celebration of Life will be conducted on Wednesday, November 19, 2003 at 12:30 P.M. in Sunset Funeral Home Chapel. Interment will follow at Ft. Sam Houston National Cemetery with Full Military Honors. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that you send donations to the M.S. Society of Texas.
