More detail on this person: Daniel L Reed Born March 1, 1944, in Orange, Calif., son of Daniel C. and Florence Tontarski Reed. Mr. Reed was a captain in the Army during the Vietnam war, including two combat tours in Vietnam and flight experience in Vietnam, Laos and Cambodia. His duties and positions included officer/aviator, aviation unit commander, operations officer, airfield commander, assistant chief, educational television, and the Army Flight School. He was honorably discharged in 1972. From 1977 to 1981, he served with the Army National Guard as an aircraft quality control maintenance officer. Mr. Reed earned the following medals during his military career: 17 Air Medals, two Bronze Stars, two Army Commendation Medals, the National Defense Service Medal, the Vietnam Service Medal, the Humanitarian Service Medal, the Republic of Vietnam Campaign Medal, the Meritorious Unit Commendation and the Vietnam Cross of Gallantry. Mr. Reed died Sunday on a business trip to Nassau, Bahamas, of an apparent heart attack. Burial will be at 10 a.m. Friday in Brookside Cemetery with full military honors.
