More detail on this person: Frank R Reschke Wed, Dec. 29, 2004 Herald-Leader staff report A Lexington man sentenced to spend the rest of his life in prison for two murders killed himself, state Corrections Department officials have concluded. An investigation completed Tuesday found that Ricky Sherroan hanged himself with shoe laces, said Lisa Lamb, spokeswoman for the department. Another inmate found Sherroan in his cell at the Kentucky State Reformatory near LaGrange at 9:45 a.m. Dec. 21 and alerted corrections staff. There had been no reason to place Sherroan under a suicide watch and he was alone when he hanged himself, Lamb said. Sherroan was taken by ambulance to a hospital in LaGrange, where he was pronounced dead. Sherroan, 30, was convicted in December 2001 of killing two of his friends in April 1999. Aaron Mills, 22, and Isaac "Ike" Davis, 18, were shot as they slept after a party that had lasted late into the night. Prosecutors offered no motive for the two murders except drugs. Mills had a large amount of marijuana and cocaine that Sherroan took after shooting the pair as they lay on a sofa and in bed. Sherroan admitted killing Mills and Davis, but said he did so in retaliation because they had killed his stepfather, Frank Reschke, 57. Instead of calling police, Sherroan told investigators in 1999, "the only thing on my mind was to kill them. ... Then I was going to go to Wal-Mart and buy some bullets and put one in my own head." Prosecutors charged that Sherroan killed Reschke because he had kicked Sherroan out of the house. Jurors convicted Sherroan of killing his friends but acquitted him in the slaying of his stepfather. Sherroan was sentenced to life without parole.
