More detail on this person: Richard 'Leslie' Rodriguez Leslie passed away March 4, 2003, at Lake Charles Memorial Hospital in Lake Charles, Louisiana. He was born January 16, 1945, in Tampa, Florida. Preceding him in death were his parents Jesus (Roddy) and Onelia Rodriguez. The Rodriguez family moved to Galveston in 1949, where Leslie attended both public and Catholic schools. Serving as a Captain, he was a helicopter pilot for the U.S. Army in Viet Nam. While in Viet Nam he received The National Defense Medal, The Bronze Star, The Viet Nam Service Medal and The Purple Heart. He is survived by his sisters, Barbara Krider and husband Michael, and Aurora Cotter; children, Andrea Gonzales of Galveston, Myles Rodriguez of League City, and Steve Grassel and wife Stefanie of Kerrville; grandchildren, Nicolas and Alexandra Gonzales, Christian and Jacob Rodriguez, Tarah, Steve, and Vane'ssa Grassel; aunts, Josephine Gonzalez and Amelia Ramos of Tampa, Florida; uncles, Alfred Rodriguez of Galveston and Pedro Sahagun of Havana, Cuba; and numerous cousins. A Memorial service will be held at 9:30 a.m. at Zion Lutheran Church on March 29, 2003. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Zion Lutheran Memorial Fund. Mar 27 2003 Galveston Daily News
