More detail on this person: Richard Thomas Runnels July 31 1947-June 25, 2013 GASTON - A memorial service for Richard Thomas "TR" Runnels, 65, will be held at 1:00 p.m. Friday, June 28, 2013 at Caughman-Harman Funeral Home, West Columbia Chapel. Mr. Runnels was born July 31, 1947 in Fort Worth, Texas and passed away on Tuesday, June 25, 2013. He was a son of O.B. Runnels and Leola Ward Runnels. TR was a member of Edmund First Baptist Church. He was a member of the Pelion Equestrian Club and Wings - Disabled Children. TR served his country in the United States Army for 22 years and retired as a CW4 after serving as a pilot during two tours in Vietnam. He also received the Order of the Palmetto, the highest award a civilian can receive in South Carolina. He was a wonderful person with a great sense of humor. TR is survived by his children, Brett A. Runnels of Swansea, SC and Katie Martin of Summerville, SC; grandchildren, Candyce Slice, Collin Martin, Kameron Martin, Jordon Runnels and Jackson Runnels; brother, Jerry Runnels of Houston, TX and sister, Ida Stump of Dallas, TX, Memorials may be made to Fisher House at CNVAMC c/o Augusta Warrior Projects, 1190 Interstate Parkway, Augusta, GA 30909.
