More detail on this person: Stanley A Reel Board to memorialize Reel Oak Ridger, The (TN) - Friday, March 28, 1997 A tree will be planted in memory of the late Stanley A. Reel, who was a member of the Oak Ridge Regional Planning Commission. At its meeting Thursday night, the Planning Commission voted unanimously to plant the tree in his memory. The tree will likely be planted in A.K. Bissell Park but no exact site or planting time has been determined. "He will be greatly missed," Commissioner Leonard Abbatiello said. "He was highly respected by all members of the commission and the council." Reel, a U.S. Army veteran, died Feb. 23 when his house burned. In addition to being a member of the Planning Commission, Reel was also on the board of directors of Community Reuse Organization of East Tennessee. Reel's family developed Reel Heights, where Reel lived, in the 1950s. Reel Heights was the first area annexed by the city of Oak Ridge.
