More detail on this person: Ronald E Riddell Morro Rock Lures Another to Death Daredevil visitors are a nagging problem at Morro Rock in the California Beaches and Park System. A 27-year old Army Officer is the latest to tumble from the rock and fall to his death on the jagged rocks below. Ronald Riddell, touring the coast with his wife before leaving for a new duty station in Maryland, climbed the rock from the "safe" side but descended the dangerous ocean side. He leaped downward to a ledge instead of inching down, his knees buckled and he fell head first and outward. Al Ulm, ranger on duty at the Rock, says visitors constantly ignore warning signs there. In one weekend he declared, 24 persons had to be "talked down" or physically removed after becoming stuck.
