More detail on this person: Eugene W. Rosenthal, 93, Pensacola, FL went to be with his Lord after a brief illness on Tuesday, March 15, 2016.

He was born in Moline, IL on January 29, 1923 and attended Moline High School prior to being commissioned into the US Navy. He served in WW II, the Korean War and the Vietnam War as a pilot where he was awarded many medals including the Distinguish Flying Cross. Eugene retired with a rank of Lieutenant Commander after 29 years of service. After retirement, he owned Cordova Home Improvers for 25 years in Pensacola, FL. Eugene was a long time member of Grace Lutheran Church.

He was preceded in death by his parents, William and Ruth E. Rosenthal; his sister, Wynona Brandt and his wife of 56 years, Arlyle M. Rosenthal.

Eugene is survived by his three sons; Michael E. Rosenthal (Deborah), Pat M. Rosenthal (Sandi) and Jon S. Rosenthal; a daughter, Tina R. Johnson; 4 grandchildren, Sarah R. Box (Carl), William M. Rosenthal, Claire E. Johnson and Rebekah L. Johnson. He was lucky to find a loving wife, Netti K. Rosenthal in his golden years.

Eugene loved his family, loved his Lord, loved traveling in his Airstream and gardening.

There will be a Visitation at 10:30am on Wednesday, March 23, 2016 at Grace Lutheran Church with Funeral services following at 11:30am. Burial with military honors will follow at Barrancas National Cemetery at 1:15pm.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Grace Lutheran Church Missions Fund, 6601 N. 9th Ave., Pensacola, FL 32504.

Dad you will be part of our hearts and forever missed.

In addition to the Distinguished Flying Cross mentioned in the Obituary above, he also received at least two Air Medals (Flight/Strike) and Navy Achievemant Medal (Combat V) from HA(L)-3.
