More detail on this person: SMILEY, CLARKE SMILEY, CLARKE Times Union, The (Albany, NY) - Sunday, October 31, 2004 NEWMARKET, N.H. -- Clarke Smiley, 56, died peacefully at home in Newmarket on October 18, 2004. He was the son of Orin and Marilyn Smiley of Altamont, N.Y. Born in Exeter, N.H., he moved with his family to Altamont in 1959, attended the Altamont Elementary School and graduated from Guilderland High School in 1966. He enlisted in the Army, rose to rank of chief warrant officer and served in the Vietnam War. He was awarded the Distinguished Flying Cross while serving there as a helicopter pilot. He returned to live in N.H. where he attended the University at Durham. He was predeceased by a son, Stephen Clarke Smiley in 1992. A memorial service will be held at St. Boniface Episcopal Church, 5148 Western Avenue, Guilderland at 2:00 p.m. on Sunday, November 7. Those who wish may make a memorial contribution in Clarke's name to St. Boniface Episcopal Church, P.O. Box 397, Guilderland, NY 12084.
