More detail on this person: First Lieutenant David B. Simpson First Lieutenant David B. Simpson, 64, U.S. Army PITTSFIELD, Mass. -- David B. Simpson, formerly of Westbrook, died unexpectedly on Oct. 31, 2008, in Pittsfield, Mass., at the age of 64. David was born Aug. 21, 1944, and was the son of the late Donald and Norma (Fulton) Simpson of Westbrook, David attended Westbrook schools and graduated from Portland High School. David proudly served his country by enlisting in the U.S. Army. While serving two tours of duty in Vietnam ('66-67 and '71-72), David was a helicopter pilot and a combat medic. During one of his missions he was shot down and spent days in the jungle waiting for rescue. In honor of his bravery and service to our country, David received many decorations. David is survived by daughters, Elizabeth Wenzer of Cape Elizabeth, Patricia Simpson and Natalie Leidholdt of California; sisters Sandra Record (Burgess) of Wilton, Susan Harvey (Roger), and Sally Plourde (Stephen) of Westbrook and Sheryl Simpson of Limington, brothers Donald (Jan) of Knoxville, Tenn., Jeff of Palm Beach Gardens, Fla.; five grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.
