More detail on this person: Lt. Col. Douglas Harold Snell Lt. Col. Douglas Harold Snell Demopolis Times (AL) - Tuesday, August 16, 2011 Lt. Col. Douglas Harold Snell, 75, a resident of Demopolis died Aug. 10 at Bryan Whitfield Memorial Hospital. He was born April 20, 1935 in Ozark. He was a Master Aviator, commissioned Sept. 19, 1957 and honorably discharged June 10, 1983. He was a graduate of Troy State University with a BS (Magna Cum Laude), U.S. Army Command and General Staff College (Top 5 percent of 1,268 graduates). He received his masters degree in Science and Human Resources Management from Troy State University in Montgomery. Lt. Col. Snell gave exemplary service to our nation. He commanded the 170th Assault Helicopter Company two tours in Vietnam. His military decorations include Valor exceptionally meritorious performance and achievements. Distinguished Flying Cross (4), Legion of Merit, Bronze Star (3), Air Medal (16), Meritorious Service Medal (4), Army Commendation Medal (3), Combat Infantry Badge, Inspector General, Ft. Lewis, Wash. As a civilian he was Quality Assurance Manager for American Technologies, Inc. Quality Assurance Consultant and Tech Writer for McDonnell Douglas Helicopter Co., Quality ASsurance Manager and Production Control for Beech Aerospace Corp., Quality Assurance Manager for Miltope Corp. He was a member of Gamma Beta Phi National Honor Society. He is survived by his wife, Joan Snell of Gulf Shores, step son James Henry Dunn of Providence, step daughter Tracy Lee Hunt of Montgomery, brother Billy Snell of Denver, Colo., sister Ramona Monk of Ozark and four grandchildren. Graveside funeral services with military honors were held at Fort Mitchell National Cemetery on Friday, Aug. 12 at 2 p.m. Memorials may be made to any disabled veteran group, or any needy veterans group.
