More detail on this person: Bill "Billie" Ray Sasin, 73, fought a long and courageous battle with brain cancer. He peacefully entered his heavenly home early Wednesday morning, Feb. 22, 2017. Memorial Service: Noon to 1:30 p.m. Monday, March 6, Laurel Land Funeral Home, following with motorcade procession to take Bill to his final resting place, Dallas-Fort Worth National Cemetery. Interment with full honors: 2:30 p.m. Monday, March 6, Dallas-Fort Worth National Cemetery, Dallas. Visitation: 2 to 2:30 p.m. (family only) and 2:30 to 4:30 p.m. (family and friends), Sunday, March 5, at Laurel Land Funeral Home, 7100 Crowley Road, Fort Worth, 76134. Bill was born May 12, 1943, in Roscoe, Texas, to Adolf John Sasin and Francis Krista. He was awarded the Bronze Star along with many more medals and honors. Bill was a member of the 101st Airborne Division. He was awarded The Distinguished Flying Cross for his heroism while flying a Cobra helicopter during an aerial battle in the Vietnam War. On one of his missions, he was shot down which forced him to retire as a lieutenant colonel after 25 years of service. Later in life, he met the love of his life and married Diane Marie Sasin. Together they enjoyed going to the movies and watching the Cowboys play at the AT&T Stadium. Bill was a devoted and loving husband, father, grandfather, and friend. He will be missed by everyone, more than words will ever be able to express. He was preceded in death by his father and mother, Adolf and Francis Sasin; brother and sister-in-law, George and Carol Sasin. Survivors: His loving memory will always be cherished by his beloved wife, Diane Marie Sasin; son, James Frasor Sasin; daughter, Jennifer Ray Smith; grandchildren, Abigail Sasin and Talon Thibodeaux; twin brother, Ben Sasin and wife, Suzie Sasin; sister, Georgia Chandler; many nieces and nephews.
