More detail on this person: Carl Paul Saviola LT. Commander Carl Paul Saviola, of Jacksonville Florida, passed away on December 30th, 2012. Born in the Bronx, New York on April 21, 1944, Carl graduated from St Anthony School, the Mt. St. Michael Academy, SUNY at Farmingdale, and the University of Georgia with a Degree in Agriculture. Carl was the son of Filomeo (Joe) Saviola, (deceased), and Anna Saviola of Stamford. Carl was a career Naval Officer and served his country in both the Active Navy and as a Reservist. Carl was with the Helicopter Squadron (HS-75).. His career took him to Lakehurst, NJ; Pensacola, Florida; San Diego, California; Subic Bay Philippines, and Gaeta, Italy. He served in the Mediterranean as a liaison to the Admiral of the 6th Fleet and was a Vietnam Veteran. He was also a Navy Helo Pilot Instructor, a career he continued after his retirement. His honors include, a National Defense Service Medal; a Vietnam Service Medal, a Vietnam Campaign Medal; Meritorious Unit Ribbon; Sea Service Deployment Ribbon; Armed Forces Reserve Medal; Navy Unit Commendation; Naval "E" Ribbon, and a Presidential Unit Citation. He was passionate about respect for family, God and Country. Carl is survived by his partner of 22 years, Gale Toler of Jacksonville, Florida; his mother, Anna Saviola of Darien, his sisters, Elizabeth Delorenzo and her husband Leonard of Pelham Manor, N.Y. and Naples, Florida; Geri Callahan and her husband Jack of Darien; CT; Anne Marie Field and her husband Dave of West Haven, CT and many loving nieces, nephews, great niece, great nephews, cousins and a special friend Walter Lippman. His family invites you to attend a Mass of Christian Burial celebrated at St. Leo's Church on Roxbury Road in Stamford, Ct on January 26th, 2013 at 10AM. There are no calling hours.
