More detail on this person: obit-Gary Steven Smalkoski obit-Gary Steven Smalkoski Journal Times, The (Racine, WI) - Thursday, March 11, 1999 RACINE - Gary Steven Smalkoski, 49, went on to co-pilot for the Lord in Melbourne, Fla. at the Holmes Regional Medical Center on Monday, March 8, 1999, following a heart attack. Gary was born in Minneapolis, Minn. on August 26, 1949. He came to Racine in 1987 and was a Corporate Pilot for S.C. Johnson and Son for 11 years and was currently Chief Helicopter Pilot with the Florida Marlins - John Henry Company. Gary was a former member of Trinity Lutheran Church, present member of Grace Baptist Church, United States Army decorated Vietnam veteran, a Major with the Army Reserves for 27 years, an avid sports enthusiast enjoying hunting, fishing, and was an avid skier. He is surviving by his loving wife of 20 years, Cheryl; beloved father of four sons, Daren, Ryan, Jason, and Nathan Smalkoski; daughter, Lauren Smalkoski, all of Racine; parents, Henry and Joy Smalkoski of Burnsville, Minn.; two brothers, David (Annette) Smalkoski of Eagan, Minn. and John Smalkoski of Eden Prairie, Minn.; sister, Nancy (Scott) Keifer of Eagan, Minn.; father-in-law, John Mahoney of St. Paul, Minn.; and other relatives. Funeral services will be held at Fellowship Baptist Church, 5607 Wright Avenue, in Racine, on Friday, March 12, 1999, at 8 p.m. with the Rev. Jerry Worsham officiating. Internment will be at Fort Snelling National Cemetery in Minneapolis, Minn. on Monday, March 15, 1999. Relatives and friends may call at the church on Friday from 4 p.m. until time of the services. Gary will be sadly missed and loved by all who knew him.
