passed away peacefully at his home on December
22, 2016. We can rejoice in knowing that he is in
heaven with the Lord whom he served so faithfully.
Charlie was a devoted Christian and very involved
in the ministry of Jesus Christ, serving as
minister, song leader, and Bible study teacher in
various churches and mission fields over the
years.
Charlie was born in Dallas, Texas on September 22,
1940. He served in the US Army and spent tours in
Vietnam and Antarctica. He was a proud member of
the 114th Aviation Company, flying Cobra gunships
during his Vietnam tour where he was a recipient
of the Purple Heart, Bronze Star and several Air
Medals. After his service, he completed his
education with an MBA from Southern Methodist
University in Dallas, Texas. He spent most of the
rest of his life involved with veteran
organizations advocating for his fellow brothers
in arms. He held the state commander position with
the Disabled American Veterans organization and
also served as a chaplain to the 114th Aviation
Association. His time served in the military and
efforts at home were a blessing to many including
his family and friends.
Charlie was preceded in death by his parents John
B. and Elizabeth Stone, and his twin brother
John.
Survivors include his wife of 52 years, Margaret
Stone; daughters Lori Williams and husband Allen;
Keeli Bond and husband Charles; son Charles
Russell Stone; grandchildren Joshua Bates and wife
Maci; Sierra Boudreaux and husband Robbie; Grant
and Rowan Bond; great granddaughters Kennedy
and Liberty Bates.
Graveside services will be held at the Dallas-Ft.
Worth National Cemetery, Dallas, TX March 3, 2017
at 2 p.m.
