More detail on this person: Charles E. Smith Mr. Charles E. Smith, 74 of Lake City died Monday afternoon, January 16, 2006 at Shands at the University of Florida in Gainesville following a lengthy illness. He was born in Providence, FL to the late Albert and Dorothy Tyson Smith. He was a retired CWO U.S. Army Veteran of Korea and Vietnam wars, and was preceded in death by his wife of 55 years, Mayme Lyons Smith. Mr. Smith is survived by two sons, Ed Smith, Old Town and Allan Smith, Live Oak, one daughter, Susan Diane Smith, Lake City, one sister, Christine Hale-Pettry, Gainesville, FL, four brothers, Marvin Smith and M. Wayne Smith of Providence, FL, Larry Smith and Terry Smith, both of Lake City. Four grandchildren and three great-grandchildren, care giver and special friend, Lori Smith of Lake City also survive. Funeral services for Mr. Smith will be conducted at 2:00 P.M. Thursday, January 19, 2006 at Gateway Forest Lawn Funeral Home Chapel with Ryan Tuten, Minister of Lake City Church of Christ officiating. Interment will follow at Forest Lawn Memorial Gardens Cemetery. Visitation with the family will be held from 5:00-7:00 P.M. Wednesday evening at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to The American Cancer Society, 2119 SW 16th Street, Gainesville, FL 32608.
