More detail on this person: My name is Hogan Bryan and I served with Major Sawvell in VN in 1966. We were in the 339th Trans Co. stationed in Nha Trang. He was quite a guy, not afraid to buck the system. He actually taught me how to fly the Huey. A special note, he went into Normandy in a glider as a 16 or 17 year old private. Later he received a battle field commission. I had often wondered what happened to him.

He died Nov. 14, 1987 Clayton County, Iowa. He is buried at the Council Hill Cemetery, Mc Gregor, Iowa. Been working on family tree, but I have to fine out who is parents are.My name is Imogene Sawvell, Brandt. I believe Vernon is from Mc Gregor area. From: Imogene Sawvell, Brandt
