More detail on this person: During a recent reunion I learned that my roommate from the 571st Med Det (HA) had died after returning from Viet Nam. After checking the VHPA site I saw that there was no info listed as to the circumstances of his death. Using the web to search for info, I came up with this link. If this is the same person, it might be of some help to anyone interested in filling in the details as to what happened to Dave.

Mr. Scheytt tragically lost his life when the helicopter he was flying crashed near the Greens Creek Mine on Admiralty Island.

In honor of his heroic achievement and his selfless actions, the Alaska Peace Officers Association and the Federal Aviation Administration are proud to dedicate this building to the memory of Mr. David Scheytt.
