Richard "Dick" Price Scott Jr., 64, passed away quietly Wednesday, July 27, 2005, at his residence. Col. Scott was born March 28, 1941, in York, Pa., to Richard Price Sr. and Dorothy Vera Schotzberger Scott. He married Eleanor Chambers on Feb. 14, 1989, in Las Vegas, Nev. Col. Scott is a 1964 graduate of the U.S. Naval Academy upon which he was commissioned as a second lieutenant in the U.S. Army. Having completed a number of basic Army courses, including Ranger School, he chose to become a cavalry officer. Col. Scott was a highly decorated officer, receiving numerous medals, including the Republic of Vietnam Cross of Gallantry with Silver Star, Bronze Star with Valor and a Bronze Star with 1st Oak Leaf Cluster. In the latter part of his Army career, he made significant contributions in the advancement of tank night-vision/all-weather sights. Upon retiring as lieutenant colonel in 1984, he continued contributing to the advancements in the area of defense through his work with Texas Instruments Corp. After his second attempt at retiring, Dick (as his family and friends know him) joined his wife, Eleanor, as a massage therapist, instructor and business manager with their massage school, Academy of Healing Arts in Denton, Texas. Dick will be remembered by those who knew and loved him as a bold and intelligent man with a wonderful sense of humor. Dick Scott is survived by his wife, Eleanor, of Krum; a son, David and Eryn Scott of Aurora, Colo.; daughter, Sondra Scott Rogers and Michael Rogers of Hollywood, Calif.; daughter, Debbie and Dan Traxler of Rockwall, Texas; son, Robert and Sandy Chambers of Pretty Prairie, Kan.; sister, Suzanne Pryse-Atkinson and Steve Atkinson of Chester, Va.; grandchildren Dylan Scott Rogers, Nikki and Hanna Scott, Ryan and Tyler Chambers, and Kalem, Karina and Daniel Traxler. Memorial services will be at 1 p.m. Monday, Aug. 1, 2005, at the First United Methodist Church in Krum. The Rev. Kerry Smith will officiate. U.S. Army Honor Guard of Fort Hood, Texas, will conduct military honors. Memorials may be made to Dick Scott's favorite charity, the Stroke Center, 1810 Inwood Road, Dallas, TX 75235
