Sikes, Jr. passed away on Thursday, January 21, 2010. Captain Sikes was the recipient of the Purple Heart. His son, James Edward Sikes, preceded him in death. Survivors include his wife of 50 years, Sara Lou Jimenez Sikes; children, Marie (Tim) Lyle, Beth (Chris) Allen, Fred (Sunni) Sikes & Milton (Lynn) Sikes, III; fifteen grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; brother, James "Jimmy" Sikes (Jan); sister-in-law, Mae Duval, aunts and numerous cousins.
