She was born April 18, 1928, in Jet to Elsie Irene Sloan. On May 29, 1948, she married Dan Finley "Toby" Sims at the Wesleyan Methodist Church in Oklahoma City. They resided in Norman. After earning his degree, Toby had a career in the U.S. Army and the family was stationed around the country and overseas.
