More detail on this person: Rabon Neil Smith Mr. Rabon Neil Smith of Hartford died Wednesday, Jan. 21, 2009, at his residence. He was 65. Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Sunday, Jan. 25, 2009, at the Ward Wilson Funeral Home Chapel. Burial will follow in Memory Hill Cemetery. Mr. Smith was born June 29, 1943, in Bradenton, Fla., the son of the late Rabon Lamar Smith and Ettta Stacey Smith. Neil had 45 years of military service, 20 years of active duty and 25 years of Department of Civil Service, both as an Army Aviator and Civilian Instructor. He accumulated over 10,000 flight hours as "Vampire 33." His civilian position was Chief of the Graduate Branch Academics Division, instructing students to pilot helicopters with night vision equipment at Ft. Rucker. He is preceded in death by his parents, Rabon Lamar Smith and Etta Smith. Survivors include: his wife, Lila Smith of Hartford; daughter, Patricia L. LaGasse and her husband, Robert LaGasse, Jr. of Sarasota, Fla.; sons, Rabon W. Schall of Sarasota; Anthony N. Schall of Sarasota; sister, Wynona Wilson of Springhill, Fla.; grandchildren, Robert LaGasse III, Heather LaGasse, Rabon N. Schall, David Z. Schall, Nicol Schall, Samantha Schall, special friends, Tom Boyers, and several nieces and nephews.
