More detail on this person: Lt. Col. Eucie Spencer TUPELO - Retired U.S. Army Lt. Col. Eucie Dwayne Spencer, 73, died Tuesday, June 8, 2004, at the North Mississippi Medical Center after a brief illness. He was a native of Enterprise and a resident of Tupelo since 1969. He was the owner of Spencer Manufacturing at Sherman and an active member of Gloster Street Church of Christ. He was a U.S. Army veteran with 23 years of service. A flight instructor and pilot, he served in the Korean War and the Vietnam era. He received the National Defense Service Clasp with Oak Leaf Cluster, Army Commendation Medal, Vietnam Service Medal with Bronze Star, Vietnam Cross of Gallantry with Palms which he received twice, the Korean Service Medal, and United Nation's Service Medal. He served as alderman and vice mayor of Tupelo from 1981-1985. He served as president of the North Mississippi Water Board Association from 1995 to present. He was a member of the Lee County Shrine Club and the Tupelo Kiwanis Club. Services will be at 11 a.m. Thursday in the Jefferson Street Chapel of W.F. Pegues with Bro. Joe Connell, Bro. Chad Ramsey, and Bro. James Segal officiating. Burial will be in Tupelo Memorial Park. Survivors include his wife of 53 years, Mary V. Spencer of Tupelo, a son, Barry D. Spencer and wife, Zen, of Columbus, a sister, Vivian Umfress of Senatobia, three nieces, Kim Day, Carla Gail Martz, Jane Umfress, four nephews, Billy Spencer, Bill Spencer, Steven Spencer and Dean Umphress. Pallbearers will be Billy Spencer, Bill Spencer, Stephen Spencer, Floyd Hale, Fred Murphree, and Ken Pruitt. Honorary pallbearers will be the Sunday School Class of Gloster Street Church of Christ - Charles Johnson, Roland Davis, Frank Long, Gary Dick, Walt Baker and Jim Conley. Visitation will be from 5 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. today and from 9:30 a.m. to service time Thursday. (Published in the Tupelo Journal)
