Olin Gene Staton, 85, of Shirlley passed away
Friday, November 28, 2014, at his home.
He was born October 25, 1929, to the late Chester
and Ethel Reed Staton in Noble County, Indiana.
Olin was a retired U.S. Army veteran with 21 years
of service. He retired from retail sales.
During his military career, Olin served as part of
the occupation force in Europe in Frankfurt,
Germany. He also served during the Korean
Conflict, and piloted a twin-engine helicopter in
Vietnam for a Special Forces assault company.
He was a 50-year member of the American Legion
where he was a past commander. He was a past
president of the Stones Trace Historical Society
in Ligonier, Indiana.
Olin loved gardening, reading, and watching the
late night news.
Olin is survived by his wife of 64 years, Margaret
Staton of Shirley; three daughters, Cindy of
Cassopolis, Michigan, Melody of Bristol, Indiana,
and Valorie of Shirley, Arkansas; six
grandchildren, Tabitha, Shawn, Charity, Granger,
Nathan and Harmony; six great-grandchildren; and
many nieces, nephews and friends.
Olin is proceeded in death by two brothers, Robert
and John Staton; and two sisters, Barbara and
Donna Bell Staton.
Cremation arrangements were entrusted to Clinton
Funeral Service of Clinton, Arkansas.
