More detail on this person: David Lawrence Stewart Jr. A celebration of life for David Lawrence Stewart Jr., 61, Shawnee Mission, will be at 5 p.m. Tuesday at Amos Family Chapel in Shawnee. Mr. Stewart died Friday, March 28, 2008, at Kansas City Hospice House, of cancer. He was born April 25, 1946, in Kansas City, Mo., the son of David L. Sr. and Charlot Stewart. Mr. Stewart graduated from Shawnee Mission North High School, and received undergraduate and graduate degrees from Kansas University. He was the editor of the Cottonwood Review at KU from 1966 to 1967. He taught English at KU, as well as the University of Missouri-Kansas City and DeVry University. During the Vietnam War, Mr. Stewart served as a translator at NATO headquarters in Izmir, Turkey, from 1970 to 1972. From 1967 to 1980, he was married to Rose Marino. They were married in Lawrence. In 1990, he married Karen Jo Graves in Shawnee. She survives, of the home. Other survivors include his parents; two daughters, Sarah Stewart Randolph and Rachel Stewart Church; a son, Jason Lindsay; one brother, Mark; a sister, Lisa Scarborough; his first wife, Rose Marino; and four grandchildren.
