Col. Lawrence J. Stone, 74 of Caledonia, passed away on Tuesday, July 19, 2005, at Lee Memorial Hospital in Fla. He was born on November 18, 1930, in Reedsburg, the son of James Riley and Vera Amalia (nee Milhaupt) Stone. He was a 1948 graduate of Baraboo High School and a graduate of the University of North Dakota. Larry's career was spent serving his country as an Army Aviator, having been stationed several places around the world. He retired after having attained the rank of Lieutenant Colonel. He was preceded in death by his parents and six brothers, James, Richard, Edward, Fred, Mark and Patrick. Surviving are his loving wife, Lois; twin sons, Mark Stone and Mike (Nancy) Stone; Lois' children, Cindy (Chuck) Trudell, Patti (Hoby) Thrasher, Bill (Melissa) Andrews and Penny Streling; his grandchildren, Gian-Carlo, Alanna (Bill), Grace, Jake, Shelby, Bo, Nick, Dakota, Steven and Miranda; a great-granddaughter, Alexandria; his sisters, Susan Remington of Madison and Genevieve (Bill) Schauer of Elm Grove; his sisters-in-law, Dorothy Stone of Nekoosa; Patricia Finder-Stone of DePere; Barbara Stone of Baraboo; many nieces; nephews; and other relatives and friends, including special friends, Jerry and Bethel Timmer. A Mass of Christian Burial was celebrated at 11 a.m. on Monday, July 25 at St. Mary Magdalen Catholic Church, 1213 52nd St. SE, Baraboo, with Fr. Larry King as celebrant. Entombment was in Resurrection Cemetery. Visitation was held Sunday at Stroo Funeral Home, 1095 68th St., SE, Baraboo.
