More detail on this person: Donald L. "Donnie" Summerell Donald L. "Donnie" Summerell Maumelle Monitor, The (AR) - Wednesday, July 4, 2007 Donald L. "Donnie" Summerell, 62, of Little Rock, died Monday, June 25, in Little Rock. Born June 18, 1945, in Many, La., he served as a helicopter scout pilot in Vietnam, where he received two distinguished flying crosses, and trained helicopter units for Vietnam while he was stationed in Dothan, Ala. He spent 30 years as a crop duster, flying both fixed wing and helicopters. He was preceded in death by his father, Nelson Summerell; mother, Maxine Crawley; brother, Lee Summerell; and stepson, Marc Sanders. He is survived by his wife, Kenniann Summerell of Maumelle; son, Corey Summerell and wife Tonjia of Greensboro, N.C.; daughters, Katie Summerell Bernard and husband Brandon, and Lee Lee Summerell of Natchitoches, La.; stepson, Matthew Sanders of Wilmington, Del.; daughter-in-law, Miranda Sanders; grandson, Brayden Matthew Sanders of Benton; and mother-in-law, Jessie Harlan of Maumelle. A memorial was held Thursday, June 28, at the chapel of Griffin Leggett Healey and Roth. The family requests that memorials be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, Tenn. 38105.
