More detail on this person: Mr. John Larkin Summers, 82, passed away Saturday afternoon, July 13, 2013, at his home in Spring Lake, MI. Born May 18, 1931 to Arshog and Ovell (Underwood) Sogomonian in Detroit, he served his country in the US Army, retiring as a Lt. Colonel, after active duty in Korea and as a helicopter pilot in Vietnam, as well as Army bases in the US and Germany. He held a Masters Degree in Nuclear Physics from the University of Michigan. John married the former Linda A. Lundwall in Sierra Vista, AZ, and she survives him along with three children: Thomas W. Summers of Tucson, AZ, Robin (Austin Anderson) Jones of Spring Lake, and Roger (Stephanie) Borgeson of Phoenix, AZ; a daughter-in-law Valerie Summers; 12 grandchildren, including Krystal Summers and Gabriel Morrison; a brother Henry Summers; and two sisters: Roxie Fernelius and Shirley Dezso. He was preceded in death by two children, Steve Summers and Elizabeth Summers. Military Rites for Mr. Summers will be held privately at his family cottage under the auspices of the Muskegon County Council Veterans of Foreign Wars Honor Guard.
