Virginian-Pilot, The (Norfolk, VA) - Tuesday, November 1, 1994 James Herbert ''Simpson'' Simpson Sr., of the 3500 block of Raintree Road, a retired postal clerk, died October 29, 1994, in Virginia Beach General Hospital. He was a native of Baltimore, Md., and was a member of Saint Mark A.M.E. Church where he was on the Trustee Board, the Mens Fellowship, and the Usher Board. He worked at the Acredale Station Post Office for 15 years. He was a member of the Oceana Lodge (NU)69, 32 degree Masonic, Alpha and Omega Consistory (NU)9, Arabian Temple (NU)12, Nobles of the Mistic Shrine, Liason Postal Credit Union. He was also a U.S. Army veteran of the Korean and Vietnam War (CW4), and one of the first black army helicopter pilots with 26 years of service. He is survived by his wife, Billie K. Simpson; two daughters, Arita Y. Davis of Virginia Beach and Rasilind R. Smith of Brooklyn, N.Y.; three sons, Ronald R. Simpson and Alfred T. Simpson of Virginia Beach, and Sgt. Major (ret.) James H. Simpson of Lumber Bridge, N.C.; one sister, Helen Fulton of Philadelphia, Pa.; three brothers, Dr. John Simpson of Manhattan, N.Y., Chester Simpson, and Lester Simpson, both of Philadelphia, Pa.; 15 grandchildren; his mother-in-law, Emma B. Kellam of Virginia Beach; and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. The funeral service will be conducted at 1 p.m. Wednesday in Saint Mark A.M.E. Church, by the Rev. Arthur Mae Lawson. Burial will be in Woodlawn Memorial Garden. Community Funeral Home, Virginia Beach Chapel, in charge. Shrine Rites will be today from 7 to 8 p.m. at the church, 1740 Potters Road, Virginia Beach.
