More detail on this person: DAVID JOSEPH SIDELLA Airline Pilot David Joseph Sidella, 49, a pilot with United Airlines who was an Army aviator in the war in Vietnam, died of leukemia Aug. 5 at Montgomery General Hospital. He lived in Olney. Mr. Sidella was born in Pottsville, Pa. He graduated from Pennsylvania State University, where he learned to fly and was a member of the Reserve Officers Training Corps. He was commissioned in the Army when he graduated and served on active duty for three years. In 1973, he moved to the Washington area and went to work for Eastern Airlines as a pilot. He joined United after Eastern went out of business in 1991. Mr. Sidella was active in the Parent-Teacher Association at Sherwood High School in Sandy Spring, and a member of the American Legion and St. John's Episcopal Church in Olney. Survivors include his wife of 23 years, Stephanie E. Sidella, and two daughters, Audra and Lauren Sidella, all of Olney, and a brother, Thomas Sidella of Pottsville.
