More detail on this person: Dad was a police officer for the City of Huntington, Indiana. He and a friend built identical experimental aircrafts - the Snoopy Sidewinder I and II. As the story goes, all of his police brothers wanted to fly with him, but he was only rated for solo. So he decided to strap a couple of bags of rock salt into the passengers seat to get the feel for additional weight. He flew right over our house out in the country, then tried to go down and up between two rows of trees. When the nose went down, the bags of rock salt came free of the seat belt and pushed the steering column, thus causing the plane to dive. He was unable to recover and drove it into the ground. The official cause of death was smoke inhalation, as the plane caught on fire when it crashed.

He was a good man whose life was cut very short. I appreciate you helping to keep people informed of the fate of our fallen heros.
