More detail on this person: Lyle Thomas Travis Lyle Thomas TRAVIS - Of Rockport, Texas, Formerly of Kalamazoo, Passed away Friday, June 21, 1996, in a helicopter crash off the coast of Louisiana. He was born June 29, 1947, in Kalamazoo, MI. He served 14 years in the U.S. Army as a pilot and served during the Vietnam War. He was awarded the National Defense Service Medal, the Good Conduct Medal, Army Commendation Medal, Purple Heart with 1 Oak Leaf Cluster, Bronze Star, Civil Defense Medal, Meritorious Service Medal, 6 overseas Service Medals, the Army Commendation Medal with 1st Oak Leaf Cluster, Air Medal 1-40, and a Presidential Unit Citation for his service in the 101st Airborn(e) in Vietnam. He was a member of the Masonic Lodge #323 in Rockport, TX, and was the Immediate Past Worshipful Master. He was a member of the Aransas County Sheriff's Reserves, the Vietnam Pilot Association, and the "Black-Cats" and the "Cowboys", tow organizations of former Vietnam pilots. He was employed by Air Logistics for over 14 years and was an Aransas County Sheriff Reserve Office for 3 years. He was preceded in death by his father, Thomas TRAVIS in 1994. He is survived by his mother, Mary DELBRIDGE TRAVIS of Kalamazoo; his former wife, Sue TRAVIS of Rockport, TX; two sons, Thomas Charles TRAVIS and Andrew Lyle TRAVIS and his daughter, Jeanne Ellen TRAVIS, all of Rockport, TX; four brothers, Kenneth TRAVIS, Charles TRAVIS, Gordon TRAVIS and James TRAVIS, all of Kalamazoo; his two sisters, Beverly TRAVIS of Albion, and Becky TRAVIS-GLADHILL** of Washington, D.C.; as well as several aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and cousins.
