More detail on this person: James R Taplin CW2 James R. Taplin, 36, formerly of Wausau, died Wednesday at the Great Lakes Naval Hospital, Great Lakes, Ill. An Army helicopter pilot, he became ill while serving in Vietnam. Funeral services will be held at First Methodist Church in Rhinelander at 2 p.m. Saturday. Military rites will be conducted and burial will take place in the Rhinelander Cemetery. Mr. Taplin was born in Wausau in 1933, son of Mr. and Mrs. Russell Taplin. He was married to Amber Klitgard June 27, 1953 in Rhinelander. Mr. Taplin joined the service in 1955 and was currently serving his second tour of duty in Vietnam.
