More detail on this person: Harding Coolidge "Jay" Thorpe, Jr Harding Coolidge "Jay" Thorpe, Jr., 64, of Cameron, Oklahoma died Friday, August 27, 2010 at Sparks Peachtree Palliative Care Unit in Fort Smith, Arkansas. He was a retired Major in the U.S. Army where he was a helicopter pilot in the Vietnam War. He was awarded the National Defense Service Medal. 2 Distinguished Flying Crosses with 1 Oak Leaf Cluster, Vietnam Service Medal with 4 Bronze Service Stars, Republic of Vietnam Campaign Medal, Army Aviator's Badge, Army Commendation Medal and Air Medal with Numerals. He was also a helicopter pilot for Petroleum Helicopters in Lafayette, La and a member of the Harvest Time Church. He was preceded in death by a daughter, Candice Thorpe and a sister, Brenda Spence. Graveside Memorial service was 12:00 Noon Tuesday, August 31, 2010 at U.S. National Cemetery with Reverend Marty Sloan officiating. Full Military Honors by the US Army were under the direction of Ocker-Putman Funeral Home of Fort Smith, AR. He is survived by his wife, Diana Ludlow Thorpe of the home; one daughter, Barbara Davis of Fort Smith; one son, Jeff Ludlow of Fort Smith; seven grandchildren, Felicia Thorpe of Conway, AR, Thy and Tara Thorpe both of Fort Smith, Karalina Thorpe of the home, Stash and Jagger Kuykendall both of Fort Smith and Lauren Ludlow of Tulsa, OK; one sister, Glenda Frasier of Fort Smith; one brother, Jim Thorpe of Durant, OK.
