More detail on this person: Lt. Col. Richard Noble Thrower Lt. Col. Richard Noble Thrower, 79, (USAR-Ret.) died Sept. 23, 2010, surrounded by his family and wife of 57 years, Leta Casey Thrower. Born at Fort McPherson, Ga., he was the son of an Army officer. He served his country in the Korean conflict and Vietnam War, decorated with the Bronze Star (2) and Army Air Medal (3), as well as the Legion of Merit. Following a distinguished military career, he was a skilled nursing facility administrator in the Sarasota area. He was a member of the Purple Heart Society, Sons of the American Revolution, Rotarians International, Retired Military Officers Association and First Baptist Church of Sarasota, employing his many talents in community leadership roles through his church and the Cooperative Baptist Fellowship. He is survived by his beloved wife; a son, Gregory Thrower; a daughter, the Rev. Cynthia, and her husband, Capt. Steve Brasington, U.S.N.; sisters Pat Stuart and Maxine Glickstein; seven grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren. His family will sorely miss his charming wit, inspirational faith and indomitable spirit. Visitation will be from 4 to 6 p.m. Sunday at Palms Robarts Funeral Home. Funeral services will be at noon Monday at First Baptist Church, Sarasota, with interment at Sarasota National Cemetery with full military honors. Donations may be made to TideWell Hospice Inc.
