'Ted' Torgeson, a wonderful husband, father, brother, uncle, and friend passed away on Wednesday, February 2, 2005 at the age of 61. Ted's unforgettable character and determination will be missed by all who knew and loved him. He was preceded in death by his father, Theodore Severon Torgeson, mother, Jeane Lorraine Torgeson and father-in-law, John 'Red' Kuhn. Surviving are his wife, Sandra Torgeson; son, Brent Torgeson; daughter, Brooke Torgeson; brother, Bruce Torgeson; sister, Heidi VanVaerenbergh; mother-in-law, Anamae Kuhn; three nieces, Marissa and Tara Torgeson, Toni VanVaerenbergh and nephew, Evan VanVaerenbergh. Ted was born in Muskegon, MI on January 11, 1944. He attended North Muskegon High School and graduated from Michigan State University. Ted had an absolute love for the water. Spending time in Muskegon on his 'Encore' by the dunes with family and friends is what he looked forward to the most. He was an avid skier in his earlier years and was a Ski Instructor at Boyne Mountain. One of his favorite past times was golfing and was a respected member at The Country Club of Lansing. He was a Vietnam Veteran and served time as a pilot flying a Cobra. He received a Distinguished Flying Cross, Bronze Star and 23 Air Medals. He was also a respected member of Holy Cross Church. Ted had been in the building business for over 35 years. He served on the Board of Director of the State of Michigan Building Association for six years. He helped design and build the state of the art Midwest factory for Ritz Craft's Systems Built Housing and was the General Manager during the completion and start up of operation. He has owned his own sales center for the last 10 years. Ted's hard work, strength and courage will be an inspiration to his entire family. He will be missed greatly. A Memorial Mass will be celebrated Saturday, 11:00 a.m. at Holy Cross Church with Rev. Fr. Pius Poff as Celebrant with a luncheon following. Inurnment will be in St. Mary's Cemetery, Muskegon. The family is being served by the Palmer, Bush and Jensen Family Funeral Homes, Delta Chapel. For those wishing, memorial contributions may be sent to Holy Cross Church or the Hospice House of Mid-Michigan in memory of Ted Torgeson.
