More detail on this person: John Donald Trotti,
age 74, of Athens, passed away Monday, Dec. 15,
2014. Visitation will be Thursday, Dec. 18, 2014,
from noon until 2 p.m. at Spry-Williams Funeral
Home, Florence. The funeral service will follow at
2 p.m. with Brother Eddie Gooch officiating.
Mr. Trotti was a retired lieutenant colonel in the
U.S. Army having served as a helicopter pilot in
Vietnam. He was awarded the Distinguished Flying
Cross, Bronze Star, Purple Heart, and numerous
other medals.
He was a member of Isoms Chapel Methodist
Church of Athens. He was a bus driver for the
Madison City School System and the Space and
Rocket Center. He was an avid outdoorsman, loving
hunting and fishing, and participating in animal
wildlife rescue.
Mr. Trotti was preceded in death by his parents,
Lucille and David Trotti Jr., son, Dwayne Trotti,
and brothers, Raymond Trotti, Sr. and David Trotti
III.
He is survived by his loving wife, Marshelle;
children, Denise Kelly, Douglas (Darlene) Trotti,
Cristina (retired Staff Sgt. Henry Turnipseed),
and Brian Rogers; brother, Howard Trotti; sister,
Patricia (Ken) Dial; daughter-in-law, Deborah
Trotti; and numerous loving grandchildren and
great-grandchildren.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the
Isoms Chapel Mission Fund, 16230 Mooresville Rd.,
Athens, AL 35613, or to Northwest Alabama
Wildlife Rehabilitators, 16044 Wales Road, Athens,
AL 35611.
