More detail on this person: James Cooper Twiggs James Cooper Twiggs, 64, of 504 Southwood Drive, died Monday at Wayne Memorial Hospital. The funeral will be held Wednesday at 7 p.m. in the chapel of Shumate-Faulk Funeral Home. The Rev. Barry Williamson will officiate. Burial, with military honors, will be on Thursday morning at 11 at Wayne Memorial Park. Mr. Twiggs was born in Johnston County and was the son of the late Ira Allen and Naomi Capps Twiggs. He retired as a major with the United States Army. He is survived by his wife, Jewel Twiggs; one son, John Twiggs of Jacksonville, N.C.; one daughter, Jane Twiggs Sasser of Goldsboro; one brother, Aaron Twiggs of Goldsboro; one sister, Lola Holloman of Princeton; and four grandchildren, Ashley Twiggs and John Christopher Twiggs of Jacksonville, N.C., and Kyle Sasser and Kelli Sasser of Goldsboro. The family will receive friends at the funeral home immediately following the service on Wednesday night. Flowers are welcome, and memorial gifts may be made to the American Cancer Society, 930-B Wellness Drive, Greenville, N.C., 27834; or to Stoney Creek Church Building Fund, 752 Stoney Creek Church Road, Goldsboro, N.C., 27534
