Tyc Pendleton Flier Killed As Plane Falls Into River A Camp Pendleton-based observation plane crashed into the Colorado River yesterday while on a cross-country training flight. The pilot, Capt. John F. Tyc of Camp Pendleton, was killed. The plane, a new turbo-prop craft called the "Bronco", plunged into Eldorado Canyon, about 20 miles south of Hoover Dam, shortly before noon yesterday. The plane, attached to Light Helicopter Squadron 267 at Camp Pendleton, had left the base on a routine training flight. The wreckage was found submerged in the river near a campground in the canyon, about 50 south of Las Vegas, a Marine Corps spokesman said. A rescue team from Nellis Air Force Base in North Las Vegas found the wreckage. Tyc, 27, is survived by his widow and two children, who live at Camp Pendleton.
