Tyc Pendleton Flier Killed As Plane Falls Into River A Camp Pendleton-based observation plane crashed into the Colorado River yesterday while on a cross-country training flight. The pilot, Capt. John F. Tyc of Camp Pendleton, was killed. The plane, a new turbo-prop craft called the "Bronco", plunged into Eldorado Canyon, about 20 miles south of Hoover Dam, shortly before noon yesterday. The wreckage was found submerged in the river near a campground in the canyon, about 50 south of Las Vegas, a Marine Corps spokesman said. A rescue team from Nellis Air Force Base in North Las Vegas found the wreckage. Tyc, 27, is survived by his widow and two children, who live at Camp Pendleton.
