More detail on this person: Jim served his
first tour in Vietnam in 69-70 and a second tour
70-71. Both tours were with the 101st Aviation
Battalion, 101st Airborne Division.
He enlisted in the United States Army in December
1967 and subsequently attended WORWAC Class
68-31. He was stationed at various locations
worldwide including Ft. Hood, Texas, Germany,
Korea, and Ft. Carson, Colorado. He retired as a
CW4 in 1990 with 21 years, 6 months as an aviator
and safety officer. His actions and devotion to
duty earned him several medals and
commendations.
Jim, "Chip" as he was known to his parents, was
born June 26, 1949 to Jane Francis Wanner and
James Roger Vick in Yokohama, Japan. He spent
his childhood in Tacoma, Washington and
graduated from Clover Park High School. Jim
married Edith "Alice" Urbanovsky on April 20, 1974
in Abbott, Texas. They were blessed with two
wonderful children, James and Carol, of whom he
was very proud. Jim was employed by Colorado
Springs Utilities as a Safety Engineering
Supervisor. Jim lived life to the fullest:
skiing, hunting, fishing, biking, classic cars,
barbequing and anything else that captured his
interest. He engaged everyone he met. He was
proud of his professional service to his country
and his professional safety career...always trying
to do the right thing.
Survivors: Edith (Alice) Vick,spouse,Colorado
Springs, Colorado; James Vick, son; Carol Vick,
daughter.
CW4 Vick's cremains were interred at Arlington
National Cemetery with full military honors on
June 29, 2010.
