More detail on this person: Donald Morris Valley LEAVE A CONDOLENCE Donald Morris Valley, 75, died November 13, 2006 at Sentara Nursing Home in Barco, N. C. He was a native of Little Falls, MN. and the son of the late William Valley and Edna Plante Valley. Donald served 25 five years in the U. S. Army and retired as Lt/Col. During his career he was awarded many medals and accommodations. He did two tours in Vietnam both on the ground and in the air. On November 1, 1965 he distinguished himself while serving as platoon leader participating in a combat reinforcement mission near Tao River, Republic of Vietnam. He led his command successfully against a superior enemy force and single-handedly neutralized two enemy snipers. For his leadership and bravery against overwhelming odds he was awarded the second highest award bestowed on a U. S. soldier, the Silver Star. Col. Valley has resided for the past five years in Elizabeth City, N. C. and was a member of V. F. W. Post # 6060. He is survived by his wife, Billie Gregory Valley of Elizabeth City, N. C. and former wife, Maria Eugenia Valley of Naples, FL. sons, Edward Valley of Winter Park, FL and Randy Valley of Mt. Airy, N. C. daughter, Nathalie Valley of Manderville, LA. stepson, Tolson Willis and wife Wendy of Cary, N. C. and six grandchildren. Services for Col Valley will be held at a future date in Arlington National Cemetery in Washington, DC. In lieu of flowers, the family request that donation be made to the Veteran's of Foreign Wars Foundation, 406 W. 34th Street, Suite 514, Kansas City, MO.
